‘Cloud Terrace’ included in plans for 3-story observatory atop Boston’s Prudential Tower

BOSTON — A new three-story observatory that features a sprawling roof deck with breathtaking views of Boston is coming to the top of the Prudential Center this year.

View Boston on Thursday unveiled the names of each of the new floors that will be included in “Thew View,” which begins on the 52nd floor of the building.

The observatory is designed to provide the most accessible, indoor panoramic views Boston, no matter where you stand, according to developers. Guests can get an even better look at the spectacular city skyline when they step up on an elevated viewing platform called “The Lookout.”

At the Lookout, guests are able to zoom in on neighborhoods in Boston and learn more about the landmarks and attractions that make the city special.

Guests can then travel down to the 51st floor, called “The Cloud Terrace.”

The Cloud Terrace features a 360-degree open-air roof deck and is filled with plenty of photo opportunities. The floor offers a selfie station known as ”The Big Picture” that gives people the opportunity to take a photo with Boston as the backdrop. The photo is taken from the perspective of a camera mounted on the nearby 200 Clarendon Street skyscraper.

Before heading down to the last floor, visitors can dine or get a drink at “Stratus,” an indoor/outdoor cocktail lounge. Stratus features seasonal craft cocktails as well as sharable plates inspired by locals.

The final and 50th floor of the observatory is known as “The City.”

While visiting The City, people are able to interact with exhibits, including “Boston 365,” a three-dimensional model of the city; “Explore Boston,” an interactive neighborhood discovery tool that lets guests find things to do in Boston based on their interests; an immersive theater with a 270-degree screen that plays a short film showing the city, and “The Finale,” where guests will receive a personalized itinerary for the remainder of their visit.

The City level also includes “The Beacon,” a bistro with family-friendly menu options and a private dining space called “Studio 50.”

“We are thrilled to offer guests a glimpse of what to expect at View Boston as we continue to gear up for our launch. This exciting, immersive destination is designed to give each visitor a unique and expansive experience of the city, for locals and visitors alike. We can’t wait to welcome visitors to the space in 2023,” said Bryan Koop, Executive Vice President for BXP’s Boston region.

Throughout the visit, guests will scan their tickets and at the end, a customized itinerary aptly named “ViewPrint” will be sent digitally, for a “truly curated Bostonian visit.”
