Celebrating May the 4th: Stoneham 6th grader has Star Wars dreams come true

MASS — The magical dream of a Stoneham 6th grader has officially come true.

Callum Lemanski, who lives with a life-threatening heart condition, returned from Disney World after Make-A-Wish Massachusetts and Rhode Island surprised him in a ceremony worthy of the Rebel Alliance.

Callum is a major Star Wars fan, and his wish was to get some expert help on how to build a lightsaber.

“I put it together by putting a crystal in the middle and screwing on pieces around the crystal,” Callum said.

The crystal powers the lightsaber and makes it light up.

The trip came courtesy of Make-A-Wish Massachusetts and Rhode Island, which makes dreams come true for kids with medical challenges.

The trip was also made possible through the help of the 501st New England, a Star Wars costuming club that travels to events across New England.

The 501st New England, a Star Wars costuming club that travels to events across New England, helped Make-A-Wish in February to surprise Callum with the news that his wish would be granted, at a wish reveal at Stoneham Central Middle School. Also participating in the reveal were members of Alderaan Base, Mandalorian Mercs, and New England Droid Builders.
