RANDOLPH, Mass. — Five people have been displaced after an early morning fire in Randolph.

According to Randolph Fire, crews received a call around 3 a.m. for a blaze at a single-family ranch-style home at 21 Marconi Drive.

Upon arrival, firefighters observed smoke billowing from the front door. Crews quickly located the source of the fire at the rear of the house, where flames were visible through a basement window.

Firefighters then advanced into the basement and determined the fire originated near the home’s heating equipment.

The fire was extinguished within 20 minutes but the basement sustained fire, water, and smoke damage. there was also smoke damage on the first floor.

The home is currently uninhabitable and five residents have been displaced.

No residents or firefighters were injured.

A preliminary investigation suggests the fire may have been caused by a malfunction in the heating system. The official cause remains under investigation.

Randolph Fire reminds residents to have their heating systems inspected regularly to ensure safe operation during the winter.
