2 young men dead after car strikes tree in Brockton

BROCKTON, Mass. — Two men in their early 20s died after their car struck a tree in Brockton early Sunday morning, Massachusetts State Police said. Those victims have been identified as Damen Amado Abreau, 23, and Adenilzo Lopes, 21, both from Brockton.

The crash happened just before 1:30 a.m. in the area of 2000 Main Street when they were traveling north in a 2015 Infiniti sedan.

Police said their preliminary investigation shows that Abreau lost control while trying to pass another car on the right side before veering left across the traffic lanes and crashing into the tree. He died at the scene.

Lopes was ejected through the passenger window, police said, and taken to Brockton Hospital where he later died.

The crash is under investigation.
