BOSTON — Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski reportedly didn't make the trip to Chicago with the team because of ankle and back injuries and will not play Sunday against the Bears, ESPN reports.

According to ESPN, Gronkowski had been one of 10 Patriots players listed as questionable against the Bears, but the Patriots officially downgraded him to doubtful on Sunday.

ESPN's Adam Schefter said the Patriots are playing it safe by resting Gronkowski on Sunday, but he is expected to be back next week at Buffalo for Monday night's game.
