LANSING, Mich. — A high school senior with special needs is looking forward to prom after one of his closest friends asked him to be her date with an extravagant promposal.
During a pep rally Friday at Everett High School in Lansing, Michigan, senior Vee Nguyen asked her friend, Ben Davis, if he would go to prom with her.
In front of the whole school, her friends presented Ben with a box that said “I will ask you to prom when pigs fly!”
When they opened the box, pink pig balloons floated out. The entire gymnasium erupted in cheers, and Ben’s jaw dropped.
Ben turned to see his friend Vee. He handed her a rose while hundreds of their classmates cheered.
According to the Detroit Free Press, Ben has a rare condition called Pantothenate Kinase-Associated Neurodegeneration, which has left him with nerve damage. He relies on a wheelchair to get around.
"He is such a sweet person with a kind heart and it's an honor being able to ask him to prom!" Vee wrote on Facebook.
The prom will be held on May 13.
"I'll ask you to prom when pigs fly" And he said Yes! I met Ben Davis two years ago and ever since then we became really good friends. He is such a sweet person with a kind heart and it's an honor being able to ask him to prom!
