HOLDEN, Mass. — The former principal of a local elementary school and former teacher at a college has been arrested and is facing child pornography charges.
Mark Aucoin, 61, of Holden, was arraigned in Leominster District Court on Monday on three counts of possession of child pornography.
Authorities were first alerted by employees on Nov. 20, 2019 at a business where Aucoin had gone to get a CD burned. Employees told police they saw what looked like child pornography.
After launching an investigation, police secured a warrant to search Aucoin’s home and found child pornography in a laptop computer and on CDs, according to court records.
Aucoin was the former principal for Davis Elementary School in Holden and had most recently been employed by Assumption College as an adjunct instructor. His LinkedIn profile shows he worked at the elementary school from 2006 to 2014, later taking on the role of adjunct instructor at Assumption College.
In a statement to Boston 25 News, a spokesperson with Assumption College said Aucoin is no longer associated with the school and they are not at liberty to discuss personal matters.
His bail was set at $2,500 cash or $25,000 with surety and he is scheduled to return to court Feb. 24 for a pretrial hearing.
Correction: a previous version of this story erroneously listed Davis Elementary School as a Bedford school. It has been corrected.
