Tejano icon Emilio Navaira, who also had several country music hits, has died, multiple media outlets reported early Tuesday. He was 53.
SAN ANTONIO — According to Univision, Navaira, often called the "Garth Brooks of Tejano," died Monday of a heart attack. Publicist Norma Duran confirmed the news on Facebook, the Latin Times reports.

The San Antonio native is known for his 1995 country hit "It's Not the End of the World" and the 1996 song "Por Siempre Unidos." He also recorded a duet with Selena called "Tú Robaste Mi Corazón."
