BOSTON — Here’s a happy story amid the anxiety over the spread of COVID-19.
Our cameras were rolling at the Edward Brooke Courthouse in Boston as the Whitley family celebrated the adoption of their son.
Denver Cole Whitley entered the foster care system after being born to a drug-addicted mother.
“He was born from substance abuse, but we’ve had him since he left the NICU and he’s been fine,” Sadie Whitley said. “He’s healthy, smart and outgoing and just a happy boy.”
Happy adoption day Denver!

Sadie and Julia Whitley tell us they have always had a passion for foster care and took Denver in when he was 4 days old.
“He’s always felt like a part of the family,” Julie said. “Now, it’s just official on a piece of paper. He’s a Whitley now.”
Denver’s big brother Liam was also on hand to welcome the little guy into the family officially.
