Dorchester fire displaces 10 overnight on Monday

DORCHESTER, Mass. — Ten people have been displaced from their homes in Dorchester after a fire broke out on Powellton Road in the neighborhood overnight.

Firefighters responded to the home just before 12:30 a.m. on Monday morning. There, emergency responders found smoke coming from the building.

All occupants were able to escape the house safely, while the Red Cross is on hand to assist those residents who were forced out.

Fire department officials say the damage costs are around half a million dollars.
