Doctor stabbed to death at NH hotel

LITTLETON, N.H. (MyFoxBoston.com) – The New Hampshire Attorney General's office says an arrest has been made in connection with the stabbing death of a doctor in Littleton.

N.H. Attorney General Michael Delaney's office said Dr. Catherine Houghton, 70, was stabbed multiple times in the neck and torso at the Hampton Inn hotel Monday night. She was taken to Littleton Regional Hospital where she was pronounced dead.

Rodney Hill, 37, of West Danville, Vt., was arrested around 8:50 p.m. outside of the hotel in connection with Houghton's death. He was charged with two counts of second-degree murder.

Hill was expected to be arraigned Tuesday afternoon. An autopsy was also scheduled for Tuesday afternoon.

An investigation is ongoing.

Houghton graduated from the White Mountain School in 1960 and sat on the board of trustees. The school released a statement on their website saying they are deeply saddened by the loss.

"She will long be remembered for her kindness, love of music, keen intellect and adventurous spirit. She lived life to its fullest, pursuing each next step with curiosity and joy. Through her words, actions and deeds she has inspired countless others to do the same."
