Dashcam footage shows Medway officer being hit by vehicle

A Medway officer was struck by a vehicle while working a road construction detail, according to a release from the town of Medway.

Special Police Officer Richard Malo, a retired Medway Police lieutenant, was struck around 10:16 a.m. Wednesday morning while working on Main Street at the intersection of Mechanic Street.

The driver, 71-year-old Medway native Jerome Guthro, stayed on scene and cooperated with officers.

Malo was taken to Milford Regional Hospital for injuries that weren't deemed to be life-threatening.

Video from Michael Leshinski's dashboard camera shows the whole incident, as the white SUV turns left and strikes Malo.

The incident is under investigation by Medway Police.
