• DA investigating after two bodies pulled from Merrimack River in Lowell


    LOWELL, Mass. - Officials are investigating a pair of apparent drownings after the bodies of a man and a woman were pulled from the Merrimack River on Saturday morning in Lowell, according to a release from the Middlesex County DA.

    Lowell Police discovered the two bodies around 6:30 a.m. on Saturday after responding to a call for a male body in the river. The body of the female victim was found shortly afterward.

    Both were located in the river near Aiken Street in Lowell, behind LeLacheur Park.

    Foul play is not suspected in the deaths, according to the DA. Both victims were found fully clothed and with no observable signs of trauma. Neither person has been identified at this time. 

    The Middlesex DA's Office is investigating the incident along with Lowell Police and Mass. State Police. The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner is working to determine the cause and manner of both deaths.
