Passenger involved in Mendon school bus crash has died

MENDON, Mass. — A passenger involved in a crash with a school bus in Mendon has passed away, according to the Worcester County District Attorney.

Cheryl Drainville, 57, of Bellingham died from injuries received in the crash. She was a passenger in the sedan. The driver of the car, Richard Drainville, 33, of Woonsocket, R.I., remains hospitalized.

Richard Drainville had to be extricated and was flown by medical helicopter to UMass Memorial Medical Center in Worcester.Cheryl Drainville was taken to the emergency room at Milford Hospital, then taken to UMass Worcester.

In addition to the bus driver, 16 children between the ages of 7 and 13 were on the bus. All of those occupants were medically cleared.
