MEDFORD, Mass. (MyFoxBoston.com) -- Survivors of the Boston Marathon bombings honored one of the victims Sunday.
Krystle Campbell was one of three people killed at the finish line in April of 2013, along with Lingzhi Lu and Martin Richard. On Sunday, hundreds attended the ground breaking of the Krystle Campbell Peace Garden project.
The garden will be located behind Medford City Hall and will be surrounded by sidewalks inlaid with icons from the Boston Marathon route. There will be four fountains, representing those who died in the bombings and Officer Sean Collier, who died at the hands of the Tsarnaev brothers, the two responsible for the terrorist attack. There will also be a fifth fountain, representing the importance of peace for the world.
The garden has been financed through state and federal grants, along with private donations.
