BOSTON (MyFoxBoston.com) -- Community members gathered in East Boston Tuesday night to say no to violence just one week after a 15-year-old was found stabbed to death on a nearby beach.
"A lot of people are saddened by this occasion of what happened last weekend to a youth," one resident said.
This comes after the body of a teen, who was later identified as 15-year-old Wilson Martinez, was discovered on a beach in East Boston last week. Someone walking by saw the body and called police, according to the Suffolk District Attorney's Office. Police say his death appeared to be caused by a stabbing.
On Tuesday night, the message at the vigil was to stop the violence.
Resident Rosario Chicas said, "They are making a call to the families to speak to the youth and say no to violence.”
Those who went to the vigil hope to spread the word and help end the violence in their community.
