Cambridge officer accused of assaulting restaurant employee

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. — A Cambridge Police officer is off the job after an arrest on the charge of disturbing the peace.

Cambridge Police said Officer Jonathan Vicente was arrested by the Revere Police Department on July 10, 2016 for disturbing the peace.  He was arraigned in Chelsea District Court on July 11, 2016 and has been

Vicente has been placed on unpaid administrative leave from the Cambridge Police Department, where he has served as a patrol officer since 2015.

“The Cambridge Police Department is aware of these allegations and takes them seriously,” stated Police Commissioner Christopher J. Burke. “We will provide any support needed from our partners at the Revere Police Department and the District Attorney’s Office to facilitate their investigation.”

Employees at the Volare restaurant say Vicente and other men allegedly held down a kitchen worker then kicked and punched him after he asked them to stop urinating on a wall.

According to a police report, Vicente reeked of booze and fled down the street in a car. When police told him about the accusations he allegedly yelled "prove it" and "I'm police bro" before allegedly threatening "just wait 'till you come through Cambridge."

Vicente was in a car driven by his brother, Hector Vicente, at the time police arrived. Hector told police he had just arrived and did not know anything about the alleged fight.
