CAMBRIDGE, Mass. — Supreme Court Justice nominee Brett Kavanaugh will not return to teach at Harvard Law School in January, according to an email administrators sent to law students Monday evening.

"Today, Judge Kavanaugh indicated that he can no longer commit to teaching his course in January Term 2019, so the course will not be offered," Associate Dean and Dean for Academic and Faculty Affairs Catherine Claypoole wrote in the email, which she sent on behalf of the Law School's Curriculum Committee.

The decision to withdraw from teaching the class comes after several women came forward alleging Kavanaugh assaulted them decades ago. The allegations have delayed the vote to nominate him to the Supreme Court and have pushed Harvard Law students to call on the school to bar him from teaching pending a "full and fair" investigation of his alleged sexual misconduct.

The Law School dean and spokespeople have repeatedly refused to comment on Kavanaugh's employment status over the past week, citing a need to keep "personnel matters" confidential, the Harvard Crimson reported.
