Boston police find water main break while responding to reported street collapse

BOSTON (MyFoxBoston.com) -- Police responded to the scene of a reported street collapse in South Boston Thursday night.

Boston police tell FOX 25 they received a call from a person at 400 D Street saying part of the street collapsed. When they arrived to the scene, they noticed a water main break in the area.

Officials say while there is the possibility that part of the street collapsed as result of the break, the reported collapse is not considered major at this time.

Crews were working on the water main break at about 9 p.m. They say traffic could be affected, but they did not close the entire street.
