(MyFoxBoston.com) -- A firefighter was killed in a snowmobiling accident in New Hampshire.
Billerica firefighter David Silva, 39, died on Thursday in northern NH due to "injuries sustained in a snowmobile accident," according to the fire department.
"Dave was a mentor," Deputy Fire Chief Tom Ferraro said. "When they got a new guy on Group 3, Dave took them right under the wing, he treated them with respect and showed them the ropes of our job."
Silva had been appointed a firefighter in January 2000 and served as an instructor in the department.
"He was a great family guy. He had a wife, two kids, and those were his life," Ferraro said.
