35-year-old man dies after being struck by boat on Lake Winnepesaukee

A 35-year-old man died after being fatally struck in a boating accident on Lake Winnipesaukee, according to New Hampshire State Police.

Police responded to reports of the accident in the area of Little Mark Island on the lake in Alton, New Hampshire.

When officers arrived, they found the boat tied to the dock.

Police say they believe a powerboat, operated by 74-year-old Simsbury, Connecticut native Edmond Macri, was preparing to leave the dock with five adults and three children on board.

Macri allegedly made a sharp turn with the boat, and a passenger fell out of the boat into the water.

The boat then struck 35-year-old North Carolina native William Rowan, who was then brought to shore and pronounced dead.

The incident remains under investigaiton.
