18-year-old shot, killed after answering knock at front door of Haverhill home

HAVERHILL, Mass. — An 18-year-old Haverhill man was shot and killed Tuesday night after answering a knock at his front door, police said.

Police were called to 54 Rainbow Drive just after 9:30 p.m. to investigate reports of the shooting. When officers arrived, they said they found the victim, Bryce Finn, suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest.

He was taken to Merrimack Valley Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

“That person is going to serve life in prison, that’s really all I want. Serve life in prison for murdering my best friend,” said Finn’s best friend Grant Cheski.

Witnesses told police that an unknown person knocked on the door of the victim's home, and Finn was shot in the chest when he answered it.

The shooter then fled the scene.

Police said they do not believe this was a random attack.

Wednesday evening, police were back at the scene collecting evidence from what neighbors say was Finn’s BMW. Detectives bagged a piece of fabric that was stuck on the car.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call police.
