BOSTON (MyFoxBoston.com) - TURKEY… That’s what I (and 99% of Americans) think of when I think of Thanksgiving! But last year my family ate lukewarm Chinese food… Why? Because I had no stinkin’ electricity!
The pre-Thanksgiving storm was a weenie one in the scope of last winter-the snowiest winter on record! Boston had over an inch of rain but only trace amounts of snow on November 26, 2014. Worcester got 5.3” snow on the 26th and an additional 1.1” on the 27th. Although Concord, NH had 10.3” and set a new snowfall record for that particular day, totals were MUCH higher in later storms that season.

The TYPE of the snow was a bigger problem than the AMOUNT of snow. New Hampshire was hit hardest by the incredibly sticky, wet, heavy snow. Tree limbs fell victim to the weight of the snow, wiped out power lines, and the fourth largest power outage in state history occurred.
The clingy, heavy snow the area received last November 26th is common when temperatures are mild (closer to freezing). The lower the temperature as the snow falls, the fluffier and more powdery it is. This so-called “fluff factor” contributed to the hefty snow storms in February 2015.
Sunny skies are forecasted for the day before Thanksgiving this year. Wednesday will start cold in the 20s. Highs will land in the middle 40s. And no significant snow is expected this entire week.
