Patriots fall short in comeback attempt, lose to Jaguars

The Patriots and the Jaguars battled in a rematch of last season's AFC Championship game, and the pace seemed to remain the same as their battle in January with a different result.

The Jaguars jumped out to an early lead, up 14-0 after the first quarter and holding a 21-3 lead heading into the half.

The Patriots used a fumble recovery in the third quarter to spark some momentum, firing back to make it 24-10 with a touchdown pass from Tom Brady to Chris Hogan.

A field goal from Stephen Gostkowski early in the fourth made it 24-13, and a Kyle Van Noy interception shortly after gave the Patriots the ball back.

The Jaguars answered right back with a turnover of their own, as Dante Fowler Jr. forced a Tom Brady fumble to return possession with around 12 minutes to go in the fourth quarter.

A 61-yard touchdown pass from Blake Bortles to Dede Westbrook made it 31-13 Jaguars midway through the fourth quarter, and acted as the dagger in the Jaguars' win.

A Chris Hogan touchdown made it 31-20 late in the fourth quarter, but wasn't enough to spark a comeback.

In the end, the Jaguars came out on top with a 31-20 win, taking home the victory to move to 2-0 on the year.

The Patriots dropped to 1-1, and will take on Matt Patricia and the Lions next Sunday night.
