Around Town

Around Town This Weekend: December 16-18

Whether you need to finish shopping, cooking, or cleaning for the arrival of family, take a break this weekend to celebrate the holiday because there’s a lot going on around town!

First, if you haven't already checked out Boston Winter at City Hall Plaza, you're going to want to! It's a holiday market with over 40 specialty retailers and artisans, delicious food, a skating rink, wine and chocolate tastings, live music, and much more. Take the family for a day, or a night, full of fun.  This weekend, you'll have the opportunity to snap a photo with Santa or join the Elf Scavenger Hunt. Now, that sounds like fun! It starts at 11am each day.

And if you're looking to head up North, don't miss the Gift of Lights at the New Hampshire Motor Speedway! The two-mile course features 60 holiday scenes and more than 400 light displays.  You'll even get to ride through the Infield Tunnel with the famous tunnel of lights before cruising down VIP street. It's a pretty unique way to see the racetrack.

And, if the North is too far, head down South – well, to the Cape that is.  Take a drive through Sandwich, Dennis, and Barnstable to see more than 50 bright ‘giants.’ Sandwich native Michael Magyar creates custom steel structures for residents and wraps them with colored lights. These giants are all over and are incredible works of art. It’s free and festive – definitely worth the price of admission!

And a special shout out to the two Massachusetts Elite football teams competing in the National Championships this weekend. After winning their regional bracket games earlier this month, both team will compete in their Final Four in Naples, Florida.  Good luck, guys! Bring it home!

Whatever you do, have a great weekend! Take time to take in some of the holiday magic that’s around us.
