Yarmouth custodial parents grieving loss of 23-month-old boy

YARMOUTH, Mass. (MyFoxBoston.com) – The women who had custody of 23-month-old Lucas Braman who died this week released a statement Friday that expresses their grief.

Police responded to a home at 320 Winslow Grey Road in Yarmouth at about 8:20 a.m. Thursday for reports of an unresponsive child. Emergency responders administered CPR on Braman, who was transported to Cape Cod Hospital where he was later pronounced deceased.

"Our family is devastated beyond words at the loss of our beloved Lucas," the statement read.

The statement from Sheryl Erb, 24, and Elizabeth Cavallini, 22, was released by Cavallini's sister, Lindsay Laflamme. The couple was last in court on Tuesday with DCF, who had an issue with their home because they have a service dog, according to the statement. Both parties left satisfied with the placement of Braman and his sister.

"Luke and his sister have been our family since their births, we have always played a role in their lives. He will be deeply missed by us, his sister, cousins, aunts, uncles and grandparents. We are anxiously awaiting his sister's return home," the statement read.

The statement went on to thank DCF and Yarmouth fire, police and EMT officials.
