Former Massachusetts Gov. Bill Weld in February 2019 became the first Republican to announce plans to challenge President Donald Trump for the 2020 Republican presidential nomination.
Weld, 73, announced that he’d formed a presidential exploratory committee on Feb. 15, 2019, a move that enabled him to raise money for a White House run.
