Tow truck driver remains in coma after being hit on side of road

WAREHAM, Mass. (MyFoxBoston.com) - A tow truck driver remains in a coma after being hit while helping another driver who had broken down on Interstate 495.

The 33-year-old Wareham man has been identified as Jonathan Tetreault. He was stopped along the highway near Exit 4 in Middleborough to help a driver whose car had broken down. He was hit, along with the disabled car, by a Honda Civic at about 12:30 a.m. Sunday. As of Monday night, he was in a Rhode Island hospital.

His brother, Ray Rouke, has been by his side ever since Tetreault was hit.

"He would always have mine, so here I am having his back anyway I can," he said.

Relatives say he's been in several surgeries and is on a breathing ventilator.

"He didn't deserve this," his aunt said.

Tetreault's kids range from 1 years old to 15. Rouke is counting on the team of doctors to do the best they can.

"I thanked him and I said I know this is just your patient, but this is my brother. Save him. And they did so far," Rouke said.

The driver and passenger of the Civic were also taken to the hospital with injuries.

If you would like to donate to Tetreault's recovery, the family has started a GoFundMe account.
