Three-alarm fire at Boston brownstone causes $5 million in damages

BOSTON (MyFoxBoston.com) – Firefighters battled a three-alarm blaze Wednesday morning in Boston.

The fire broke out at a five-unit brownstone at 17 Commonwealth Ave., officials said.

One resident was home at the time of the fire, but he was uninjured.

The Boston Fire Department Twitter page says the cause of the fire is an in-floor radiant heater mounted in the fourth floor ceiling to heat a fifth floor room.

Officials said the damage was estimated at $5 million.

The American Red Cross has offered their assistance to the residents of the building.
