We're all familiar with the scenario: You sit down to dinner with your family, look around the table and everyone is staring at their phones.
In our uber-connected world, it's hard to find a single second that isn't interrupted by some text, tweet, message or alert, and family dinners are no different.
But a Chick-fil-A promotion wants to put an end to all that.
With the promotion the chain is trying to bring back traditional family meal time.
You can pick up a box at your local Chick-fil-A dubbed a "cell phone coop."
The idea is simple: Silence your phones, put them in the box and remember the lost art of conversation. The company is even offering a reward for families that get through the exercise successfully.
Here's how it works:
- Turn all family cell phones to silent and place them in the box, or "coop" as they so creatively call it.
- Enjoy your delicious meal, surrounded by undistracted loved ones.
- When the meal is over, if successful in the challenge, let the staff at Chick-fil-A know. The prize? A free ice cream cone!
The company says the idea was created by a Georgia franchise owner , and now more than 150 locally owned restaurants are offering the Cell Phone Coop challenge to customers.
Our Cell Phone Coops are here. Are you up for the challenge? #familychallenge #cellphonecoop #chickfila
