FALL RIVER, Mass. — Two teens were hit by a car while heading to school Tuesday morning, according to Fall River police.
A crossing guard was there about 6:45 a.m. when a car blew through the intersection and hit the students, police said.
The crossing guard was holding a stop sign, wearing a reflective vest and blowing a whistle, but was ignored by the car, police told Boston 25 News.
One child was pinned under a bumper with broken femur, according to police. That child, a 13-year-old, was taken to the hospital with erious injuries.
A 12-year-old was also hit, but was taken to a local hospital with only mminor injuries. Police say her foot was run over while trying to pull her friend to safety.
Jose Montalvo, 45, has been summoned to court on charges of negligent operation, failure to stop for a pedestrian and a failure to stop for a stop sign in the cross walk.
