Teen home alone when burglar breaks in, approaches bedroom

QUINCY, Mass. (MyFoxBoston.com) -- A teenager was home alone in Quincy recovering from a concussion when a man cased his house and broke in.

Sixteen-year-old Rob Smith saw a man check out his house on Andrews Road, and it wasn't long before he got inside. The man broke in through the bulkhead and headed upstairs.

"He quickly made his way upstairs where my room was, so I just shouted, 'Get out! Get out!'" Smith said.

Knowing that someone was home must have startled the man, as he ran from the house without taking anything.

"I just wanted him out of my house, that's really all that was going through my mind," Smith told FOX 25.

He called police and officers were able to arrest the suspect after a neighbor reported the direction in which the man fled.

In court, a prosecutor said Brendan Oliveirio, 27, has a four-page rap sheet including 39 convictions, mostly for breaking and entering. He was held on $7,500 cash bail and ordered to stay away from the victims.

Oliveirio works at Eddie's Auto in Quincy, where he also lives with his grandmother.

Looking back on it, Smith is "just glad they caught him."
