Strangers sit next to each other on plane, realize they are basically twins

It's not often that we think someone looks like us.

But for two men who met while sitting next to each other on a Ryanair flight, there was no denying the resemblance.

"Guy on right is the husband of my friend," it reads. "Guy on left is a STRANGER he met on a flight last night!"

"I can't stop looking at it. They are the same man," Beattie later tweeted.

According to BT, the two men later checked into the same hotel in Galway, Ireland and also bumped into one another at a pub.

Commenters on social media thought another man looked similar to the doppelgängers as well.

Daniele Podini, a forensic scientist and expert in facial recognition at George Washington University, told Science Line that based on the number of humans and the fact that our genes combine randomly, it is likely that a small amount of people look similar. Podini says that even still, there is a bias in claiming that someone looks exactly like someone else because our perception is “filtered by our own experiences.”
