Retired Holbrook Police K-9 honored before being put to rest

HOLBROOK, Mass. — Members of the Holbrook Police Department lined Plymouth Street on Wednesday to say goodbye to K-9 Bo, a retired German Shepherd that had served as a police dog for the department for more than six years.

Bo, who retired from duty in August 2019, was put to rest at Holbrook Animal Hospital on Wednesday following a battle with cancer.

Bo was escorted by Officer Joshua Knowlton for his final walk. Officer Knowlton and Bo were Holbrook PD’s first K-9 team and served together for Bo’s time with the department.

Bo had lived with Officer Knowlton and his family following the K-9′s retirement.

“Bo was a valuable member of the Holbrook Police Department for many years,” said Holbrook Police Chief William J. Smith. “He was well liked and respected not only by the men and women of our department, but also by residents of the Holbrook community and the officers from the neighboring departments he worked with over the years. He will be missed, and our condolences go out to Officer Knowlton and his family.”
