Residents prepare for heat advisory in New England

After storms ripped through New England on Saturday, residents now have to turn their attentions to a heat advisory in the area on Monday and Tuesday.

The National Weather Service issued a heat advisory for most of southern New England for Monday and Tuesday, as it will feel like 100 degrees at times.

Along with the heat, humidity will play a factor as residents look to stay cool.

"The humidity is ridiculous," Liz Jones, a New Hampshire native, said. "We have been walking around all afternoon and just kind of drinking water to stay hydrated, and breaks now and again. But, it's just nasty."

New Englanders around the area were left to look for any means necessary to stay safe in the dangerous heat.

"It's been intense," Stephanie Galindo of Medford said. "We came to the park because we know it has the water that shoots out."

As the temperatures rise, people will have to worry about the chance of heat exhaustion and heat strokes coming into play.

"Once you are in it for a while, it wears on you," New Hampshire resident Carolyn Jones said. "It doesn't go so well."

The first signs of a heat stroke include a headache, nausea, dizziness and exhaustion.

Residents are advised to get up early or wait until later in the day if they're forced to be out over the next few days, hoping to stay safe in a potential life-threatening situation.
