WINTHROP, Mass. — Police in Winthrop announced Tuesday night that they have safely located 14-year-old Mackenzie McGrath, who had been missing after last being seen at her home Monday afternoon.

The missing girl was unharmed and was found in Winthrop. Police are providing services to her and her family.
Chief of Winthrop Police Terence Delehanty said during a Tuesday afternoon news conference that the department was searching for McGrath. Police say she had last been seen at her home on Sagamore Avenue around 4 a.m. on Monday, according to a Winthrop police statement.
He added that they had ruled out an abduction, but were not getting into details of the investigation.
Crews from the U.S. Coast Guard along with local police and environmental police were searching for her and officials said she "may be in danger".

She is described as just over 5 feet tall, thin, with brown hair and brown eyes.
Delehanty said crews were searching the waters in Winthrop as they do with any missing person in the town because of its proximity to water.
He added that McGrath's mother was cooperating and was being supported by her friends and residents. Her mom had pleaded for her daughter's safe return.
In a tweet early on Tuesday, the Coast Guard said they were searching the waters in Winthrop for a possible person in the water. Later, they posted an update saying the search was for Mackenzie McGrath.
