PORTSMOUTH, N.H. -- A Maine man who volunteered at a New Hampshire youth organization is accused of failing to disclose his sex offender status.
In 2015, Joseph Diment was convicted on two counts of unlawful sexual conduct with a child under the age of 12.
He was classified as a lifetime registrant on Maine’s sex offender website and required to check in every 90 days.
However, police in New Hampshire say he began volunteering with a youth organization and refused to disclose his past despite repeated requests for personal information.
When the unnamed organization was unable to perform a background check, they contacted police who researched his background.
It’s unclear how long Diment was volunteering with the organization, but he is facing possible prison time for failing to disclose his status to police.
