PHOTOS: Pups & owners support local shelter

(MyFoxBoston.com) - Hundreds spent Sunday walking alongside their four-legged companions to raise money for a local shelter.

It was all part of the seventh annual Cause4Paws, benefiting the Quincy Animal Shelter. It was brisk, but owners wore coats and their canine companions sported creative costumes.

Participants either walked or ran a 5k or one mile route. There were refreshments, vendors and plenty of new furry friends to meet.

The event raises funds to keep animals healthy at the shelter, including vaccinations and veterinarian check ups. It's a no kill shelter and every animal finds a home.

The goal for the event was to raise $30,000.
