BOSTON — One person is dead after a tractor-trailer rolled over and crashed along the Mass. Pike near Allston Monday afternoon that caused severe delays for commuters.
State Police said a preliminary investigation suggests the tractor-trailer, driven by Sterling Hullett, 49, of Fort Worth, Texas, was traveling eastbound on Interstate 90 in Brighton around 1:30 p.m. when it began to sway, causing it to shift from the middle lane to the left lane. It then rolled over onto the cement median and continued to travel "for a significant distance."
The cab of the truck eventually ended up on the eastbound side of I-90 -- just before exit 20 -- the trailer came to rest on the westbound side, and the container the truck was transporting landed across several westbound lanes, a State Police news release said.
Police said no other vehicles were involved in the crash.
