One dead, one injured in Worcester overnight double shooting

WORCESTER, Mass. — One person has died and another is in serious condition after an overnight double shooting in Worcester on Sunday.

At around 2:30 a.m., Worcester Police responded to reports of shots fired on Sturgis Street. At the scene, officers found multiple people standing in the road and a 28-year-old man suffering from gunshot wounds.

The victim was treated at the scene and transported to a nearby hospital, where he is in serious condition.

While securing the crime scene, officers noticed some of the cars parked nearby had been hit by bullets. They then taped off the scene and began speaking to witnesses who said a man came from the side of another house and fired several shots before fleeing.

Police say they have very little information on the suspect.

Witnesses also told police a second victim, a 23-year-old man, was also struck by gunfire and rushed to emergency room by a family member. He later succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.

Worcester Police detectives are actively investigating this incident.
