DUXBURY, Mass. — Two local police officers are being called heroes for saving a man's life after he collapsed at the gym.
Duxbury Police Officers Stephen Hall and Scott Kane were off duty when a man in his 50s collapsed while doing curls at the Planet Fitness in Hanover.
"I was just on a treadmill, just finished up," said Hall.
"Even before I could get my membership key out of my pocket, that's when it happened. All of a sudden, I heard a thud and commotion for people calling for help," said Kane.
Hall and Kane had no idea either one was there, until they looked up while working on the patient.
"It was absolutely right place, right time," said Kane.

After one shock with the gym's AED, the traumatic scene quickly took a turn.
"It took a team effort to get his sweatshirt open because I'm compressing like ready, go and I lift my hands up and they cut it open," said Kane.
"While I was pushing down, I realized he was starting to come to," said Hall.
"Very proud of their actions, not surprised in the least," said Duxbury Police Chief Matthew Clancy.
Clancy wants to use this to show the public how valuable these AEDs can be when seconds matter.
He says he's happy his officers were there when needed.
"Very caring, compassionate officers, they truly are," said Clancy/.
Duxbury police say the man is still in the hospital, but he's expected to be OK.
