Medford PD seeking suspects in connection to shooting, car collision in residential neighborhood

MEDFORD, Mass. — Police in Medford are searching for suspects allegedly involved in a violent incident between people in two cars that led to several shots being fired.

Neighbors were told to stay inside their homes by police after the Sunday afternoon incident. It all started in a residential neighborhood where some people thought they were hearing fireworks. It wasn’t long after that they realized they were gunshots.

Surveillance video taken from a neighbor’s house showed the moment violence broke out near the intersection of Saltonstall and Shepherd Road in Medford on Sunday afternoon.

“Those bullets could have hit me, you know?” said Olivia Maduro of Medford, who was in her driveway when she heard them. “I came outside and I saw the black BMW with the three kids standing outside, not hurt, which is a miracle.”

Neighbors told Boston 25 News that passengers in a black BMW stuck around until police arrived, but that people in a silver vehicle were seen running away.

“A guy and a girl took off that way,” said Melvyn Levine, a neighbor.

Not long after, a second scene unfolded at St. Raphael Church in Medford.

“I’m here for my parents 38th anniversary mass, so I guess we’re going to be canceling that,” said James Henry, a churchgoer at that parish.

“People were excited to get back to church and this was another setback, but thank God nobody was hurt,” said Father Paul Coughlin of St. Raphael’s.

At last check Medford Police said they are still looking for the suspects involved. They did not release any sort of motive for the violence.
