TOWNSEND, Mass. — A Townsend man accused of stabbing his 65-year-old neighbor because of a noise complaint told officers, "God told me to stab her," according to a police report.
Christopher Polakowski, 34, was arraigned in Ayer District Court on Friday on charges of attempted murder, assault to murder and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.
The stabbing occurred in the hallway of a building in the Country Estates Condominiums, where both the suspect and victim live.
The victim told police she knocked on Polakowski's apartment door around 12:30 a.m., and asked him to be quiet, before he stabbed her twice in the stomach and once in the chest.
"We heard a woman scream and a male voice swearing and saying something to her about her, and then everything went silent," said neighbor Walter Proctor, who called 911. "It was just a little scary."
When police arrived, Polakowski would not open his door, according to the police report, and officers were forced to kick it in. There they found a three-to-four-inch blade in the bathroom.
Polakowski allegedly admitted to stabbing his neighbor, "because God told me to stab her," but, after being read his Miranda rights, he later said, "Jesus is telling me to be silent."
The victim is recovering and is respected to return home soon.
Polakowski was arrested and has been charged with several crimes, including attempted murder with assault to murder, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, and attempted murder.
