Man accused of impersonating FBI officer, trying to enter home

ARLINGTON, Mass. — A man was arrested Wednesday for allegedly impersonating an FBI agent in order to gain access to a home.

Arlington officers were called to Lee Terrace for a report of a suspicious man who was wearing a black suit, a black tie, a black backpack, and a black hat with white FBI lettering.

Officers found the man, later identified as Gannon LeBlanc, 23, at a bus stop at Lee Terrace and Massachusetts Avenue.

During an investigation, police said they found a stun gun, a loaded .38 caliber gun, the black FBI hat, black leather gloves, rope, duct tape, a ski mask and copies of the FBI flyer given to the residents at Lee Terrace.

“He knocked on their door, and he had weapons so they were right to call the police and be frightened I suppose,” Joe Laroche, an upstairs neighbor of the victims, said.

Officers placed LeBlanc, who is from Nashua, under arrest for impersonating a police officer, possessing a stun gun, carrying a firearm without a license and unlawful possession of ammunition.

Authorities say LeBlanc works as a senior loan officer at MIT Credit Union, and may have targeted the Arlington home because the woman who lives there is an MIT employee and customer at the credit union.

Police also report finding sticky notes with the private information of four other MIT Credit Union customers.

“This guy had all the equipment of a modern day police officer, including a loaded handgun.  We're going to work with our federal partners to conduct an investigation to determine what his motives were,” Arlington Police Chief Fred Ryan said.
