Malden high schoolers team up with police for gun buy back event

MALDEN, Mass. — A group of high schoolers in Malden teamed up with police for the city's first ever 'gun buy back program.'

The city's police department helped sponsor the event after a group of teens expressed concerns about the city's safety.

They say they were shocked to find out Malden had never held a gun buy back event, and they wanted to host one.

The teens say guns and mass shootings are something they worry about every day.

Malden police collected dozens of guns during Saturday's program.

The students say they had a good time meeting people in the community and getting a chance to work side by side with the officers.
