Three people hospitalized after trash truck crash in Lakeville

LAKEVILLE, Mass. — Three people were taken to the hospital after a serious car crash in Lakeville Thursday afternoon.

Officers responding to the area of Bedford Street near Crooked Lane around 4:50 p.m. for a car accident found three people injured, two inside a trash truck and the other inside a passenger vehicle, according to Lakeville Police.

The driver of the trash truck was flown to Rhode Island Trauma Center with serious injuries, while the passenger in the trash truck and driver of the other car were both transported by ambulance to local hospitals, fire officials say.

It took almost an hour to free one of the drivers from the wreck, according to police.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.

It is unclear if any charges will be filed.
