CAMBRIDGE, Mass. — Two residential buildings are damaged, and a vehicle was found as Cambridge Police continue to search for the suspect in connection to a shooting overnight.
The Cambridge Police Department told Boston 25 officers were alerted to the shooting at approximately 1:45 a.m. Monday when they heard multiple gunshots in the area of Harvard and Cherry Street.
After further investigation, they found dozens of shell casings recovered on Harvard, Cherry, and Boardman Street. One vehicle and two residential buildings were damaged as a result of the gunshots.
While responding to the gunshots, officers witnessed a vehicle leaving the area at a high rate of speed before it drove through a red light at the corner of Columbia and Cambridge Street. Despite multiple attempts made by officers, the suspect was able to flee into Somerville.
The State Police, and surrounding agencies, were notified. The suspect’s vehicle crashed after it was located by the State Police, but the driver ran away from the scene.
The vehicle was later recovered and transported to the Cambridge Police Department for processing. Thus far, there are no arrests made in connection to this incident.
Cambridge Police added that there were no injuries reported. The incident remains under investigation by the Cambridge Police.
