BOSTON — Stop & Shop will no longer require customers who are fully vaccinated to wear masks in its stores beginning on May 29, the supermarket chain announced.
The company, however, “will continue to strongly encourage everyone to do so,” Stop & Shop spokeswoman Maria Fruci said in a statement.
“Masks will continue to be required in all our Pharmacies for staff providing and customers receiving vaccinations,” Fruci said. “Stop & Shop is continuing to implement enhanced cleaning protocols and safety measures across all states in which we operate.”
“Per CDC and state guidelines, people who are not fully vaccinated must continue to wear masks and social distance,” she said.
The decision by Stop & Shop was announced as the state plans to lift all COVID-19 restrictions starting on May 29, Gov. Charlie Baker has said.
