Smoking manhole at MBTA Green Line stop causes traffic delays

BOSTON — Emergency crews responded to a smoking manhole at MBTA stop snarling roadway traffic and Green Line service near the intersection of Huntington Avenue and Parker Hill Avenue in Boston Wednesday.

According to MBTA officials, some utilities inside the MBTA stop had a smoldering cable causing smoke.

Boston Fire left the scene at approximately 5 p.m., however, MBTA crews remain on the scene working on repairs. Buses are available for passengers in this area of Green Line E.

The cause is under investigation.
