The Norwood Fire Department responded to a small fire at the Moderna manufacturing facility in Norwood Wednesday morning.
Crews could be seen on the roof of the building, in an office park off Washington Street at Investor’s Way.
According to a Moderna spokesperson: “A small fire occurred Wednesday morning at Moderna’s Technology Center (MTC) East building in Norwood, MA due to an electrical element. This building is under construction and is not occupied. There is no impact to Moderna’s manufacturing operations. We thank the Norwood Fire Department for their rapid response.”
The Norwood facility is a manufacturing site for Moderna’s products, including its COVID-19 vaccine.

According to Moderna’s website, the Norwood facility employs more than 230 people. It opened in 2018.
